Balabag, Kidapawan City — December 6, 2024
The Bachelor of Science in Psychology students of North Valley College Foundation, Inc. (NVCFI) turned their classroom lessons into meaningful action as they conducted a community engagement and psycho-social activity at Balabag Elementary School, Kidapawan City.
Guided by their Ethics professor, Dr. Rogelio P. Bayod, and supported by the Dean of the College of Psychology, Ma’am Sweet Honey Mae Manansala, and the faculty team, the students facilitated Structured Learning Experiences (SLEs) that promoted teamwork, confidence, and positive values among the pupils.
After the interactive sessions, the Psychology students prepared and served bihon and arroz caldo as part of a feeding activity for all learners, bringing smiles and warmth to the children, many of whom belong to the Indigenous Peoples (IP) community of Balabag. The simple meal became a symbol of care, compassion, and community spirit.
The team also distributed school supplies and snacks to every pupil. Meanwhile, Dr. Bayod held a workshop with the teachers on conducting action research to help them address classroom and community challenges. The event ended with the Balabag Elementary School faculty expressing their gratitude and awarding a Certificate of Appreciation to NVCFI. Plans are underway to formalize the school’s adoption by the NVCFI Psychology Department through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).
