Kidapawan City, November 2024 โ In support of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being, the nursing students of North Valley College Foundation, Inc. (NVCFI) conducted a comprehensive community health outreach program at Purok Sto. Niรฑo, Barangay Perez, Kidapawan City. This initiative aimed to promote holistic health awareness, strengthen disease prevention, and improve the overall well-being of local residents. The activity also served as a vital component of the studentsโ experiential learning in Community Health Nursing (CHN).
As part of the outreach, students carried out free blood pressure monitoring, individual health interviews, and health assessments to identify prevalent health concerns within the community. These activities allowed residents to gain better understanding of their health conditions while emphasizing the importance of early detection and regular health check-ups. To complement these efforts, the students also launched a Garbage Management and Cleanliness Project, educating households on proper waste segregation and disposal to prevent environment-related diseases. The program was made possible through active collaboration with Barangay officials and local health workers, ensuring strong community involvement and sustainability.
Through this initiative, NVCFI continues to champion public health advocacy and preventive care, empowering future nurses to become proactive agents of change. By addressing key aspects of hygiene, sanitation, and wellness, the NVCFI nursing students demonstrated their commitment to the values of service, compassion, and leadershipโupholding the true essence of SDG 3: ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages.
