In support of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 โ€“ Good Health and Well-Being, North Valley College Foundation, Inc. (NVCFI) upholds a Smoke-Free Policy as stipulated in its Student Handbook, aligning with Republic Act 9211 (Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003), Kidapawan City Ordinance No. 18-1211, and Executive Order No. 020, Series of 2022. This institutional policy aims to safeguard the health and welfare of all students, faculty, and staff by prohibiting smoking and the use of tobacco products within campus premises. Through this initiative, NVCFI fosters a clean, safe, and healthy learning environment that prevents exposure to harmful substances and promotes overall community well-being.

The implementation of the Smoke-Free Policy reflects the institutionโ€™s adherence to national and local health laws and its commitment to international public health standards. By enforcing a tobacco-free campus, NVCFI contributes to global efforts led by the World Health Organization (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, which advocates for the protection of present and future generations from the devastating health, social, and environmental consequences of tobacco use. The policy also reinforces health education and awareness campaigns within the college, empowering students to adopt healthy lifestyles and act as advocates for wellness in their families and communities. Beyond compliance, NVCFIโ€™s Smoke-Free Policy exemplifies a proactive approach to sustainable health promotion and social responsibility in higher education. It integrates health advocacy into institutional governance and student discipline, fostering a culture of care and accountability. Through this initiative, the college not only ensures a conducive academic environment but also aligns its educational mission with internationalization principlesโ€”producing globally aware, health-conscious graduates who embody the values of well-being, environmental stewardship, and responsible citizenship central to SDG 3.
