Recognizing that mental health is essential to holistic development and quality education, North Valley College Foundation, Inc. (NVCFI) continues to promote mental health awareness and psychosocial well-being through student-centered and community-based initiatives.
In partnership with the Guidance Office, Social Work and Psychology students conduct “Kumustahan” sessions for students across the College to provide opportunities for emotional check-ins, identify psychosocial concerns, and encourage help-seeking behaviors. The Nursing Department also conducts mental health awareness seminars for first-year and second-year students to strengthen their understanding of mental health, coping strategies, and the importance of seeking appropriate support.
Beyond campus, Psychology students facilitate structured learning activities for children in NVCFI’s partner communities, promoting their cognitive, social, emotional, and interpersonal development through meaningful, age-appropriate experiences.
These initiatives provide students with opportunities to apply their classroom learning, develop helping skills, and appreciate the importance of empathy, active listening, and psychosocial support in professional practice.
For NVCFI, caring for minds is as important as nurturing academic excellence. By creating spaces for listening, learning, and emotional support, the College strengthens a culture where mental well-being is valued, every individual is heard, and every child is given an opportunity to flourish.
